If you are having problems getting pregnant, the reasons why may be relatively simple. There really should not be reason for too much concern unless a certain amount of time has passed. If you are under the age of 30 and have been trying to conceive for a year, you may need medical help to how do you get pregnant. If you are over the age of 30 and it has been more than six months of trying, you may also need medical help. Nearly one out of six couples find they fall into this category who have fertility issues. When if there is a fertility issue, the problem lies with the woman 30% of the time and with the man 30% of the time. The remainder of couples may experience fertility issues that are unknown and cannot be determined by a doctor.

Stress and anxiety

Pregnancy problems can be very draining and emotionally taxing on couples. The further stressed and even distraught a couple becomes, the further they inhibit their chances of conceiving naturally or with medical intervention. One of the first recommendations what medical professionals will give a couple who are having fertility issues is to relax. Naturally, this is easier said than done when you are desperate to have a child. However, it is sound advice. Those who are anxious and stress-ridden statistically have lower fertility rates. The stress and anxiety cause in both men and women lower sperm count and can lead to imbalance of the hormonal levels and menstrual cycle problems. For those having trouble getting pregnant, relaxation exercises such as yoga, and breathing exercises can often alleviate stress and anxiety.


Your environment may also play a role in your inability to conceive in a reasonable amount of time. This is especially true for men. The quality of sperm a man produces is in direct proportion to his environment. Men who have occupations that consistently put them in the presence of heavy metals or toxic chemicals and are trying to conceive with their partner have much more trouble getting pregnant than those who are not exposed to such factors. Reducing your time exposed entirely or taking proper precautions can help improve both sperm count and sperm quality.

While environmental factors may play a significant role in the quality and motility of sperm, women also should take precautions with the environment they create for sperm in general. Women may be their own worst enemy when it comes to trouble getting pregnant. Using cleansers that are perfumed or loaded with chemicals can adversely effects sperm. Even scented spray and scented tampons can lead to irritation that actually makes the cervix inhospitable for sperm to thrive and survive in.

When you feel that you are having fertility issues and it still is too soon to seek medical intervention, or medical advice is not helping, taking note down of your environment inside and outside may provide insight as to why you are having trouble getting pregnant. While there can be simple or even major factors involved, knowing how your environment and the toxins around you affect your body is important. It is also important to understand how your mental state and outlook can equally influence fertility. Finally, women need to also understand how they too can influence and alter the state of their reproductive health. Assessing each of these factors may provide the solution to your trouble getting pregnant.
